Puigpunyent / Day trip from Palma

Plan a visit · by bus or car

A day in Puigpunyent
from Palma.

Twenty-five minutes from Palma by car, half an hour by bus, and a different pace altogether. Pick one walk, leave time for lunch, and decide whether to carry on up to Galilea. Here are two plans that work with the real bus timetable.

Getting here

Bus or car,
both easy.

  • By busTIB line 201 runs every day from Palma's Estació Intermodal to Son Serralta, Puigpunyent and Galilea. About 25 minutes to Puigpunyent and 35 to Galilea. Full times on our bus 201 page.
  • By carAbout 17 km from Palma on the Ma-1041, 20 to 25 minutes. The road up to Galilea is narrow and winding; park in a marked space, not on the bends for photos.
  • From the airportTake the A1 bus into Palma and change to the 201 at the Intermodal. Details on the bus page.

Plan one · by bus

The full day:
village, lunch, Galilea.

Times from TIB's timetable valid from 1 November 2025. They are the same every day, but check the official line 201 page on the day.

9:05

Leave Palma

Bus 201 from the Estació Intermodal, arriving in Puigpunyent at 9:30. Coffee and a pastry first: Forn s'Estanc on Carrer des Trast is the village bakery, Mercat Tramuntana on Carrer de Ciutat a café and deli.

10:00

Walk the village

Start at the parish church in Sa Vila, cross the bridge over the Riera to the town hall and the Pou Nou well, then climb into Son Bru and out to the Comellar dels Romeguers for the view over the Son Puig valley. The route is on our walks page. For something longer, Puig de na Bauçana and Coll de Son Marill are both graded easy.

13:00

Lunch in Puigpunyent

Es Pont, at the start of Sa Travessia, does tapas and Mallorcan dishes (usually closed Thursdays). Ca'n Jordi, the villagers' bar, does rice dishes and a proper variat (usually closed Mondays). Both are listed with contacts in the food guide; call ahead at weekends.

14:40

Up to Galilea

Catch the 201 in Puigpunyent at 14:40, in Galilea by 14:50. Walk up to the church square for the view across the valley to the bay, then the painted tiles of Carrer Clapers and the Can Soler windmills. The Galilea guide has the rest.

16:50 or 18:30

Back to Palma

The 201 leaves Galilea at 16:50 (in Palma at 17:30) and at 18:30 (in Palma at 19:10). The last bus is at 20:20 if you stay for an early dinner at Galilea Trattoria.

Plan two · half a day

A morning
and lunch.

Stay in Puigpunyent, choose one short walk and have lunch before heading back. Do not try to fit a Galatzó climb, Galilea and two restaurants into one afternoon; the hills make walking and driving times slower than they look on a map.

Out

9:05 from Palma

In Puigpunyent at 9:30. A later option is the 10:50, arriving at 11:15.

Morning

One easy walk

The village walk, or Puig de na Bauçana for a view without a big climb. Both are on the walks page with distances and times.

Back

13:35 or 15:10

From Puigpunyent, in Palma at 14:05 or 15:40.

Swap in

If you want
something different.

With children

La Reserva

A 3.5 km mountain trail with waterfalls and rescued animals, open 10:00 to 17:00 with last entry at 15:00. Allow at least three hours; you will want a car. Visitor guide.

Serious hikers

Puig de Galatzó

The 1,027 m summit is a mountain day, not an add-on. Start early, carry water and check the summit forecast first. Four routes and safety notes.

Food and wine

Wineries and olive oil

Bodega Son Puig and Son Vich de Superna open by appointment. For the valley's oil and the old Tafona de Conques, see the olive oil page.
