Where dogs
can swim.

Most beaches ban dogs in the bathing season, roughly May to October. Calvià, the nearest coast, has two official dog zones where dogs may run off the lead.

  • Cala des GatsCosta de la Calma, between Punta des Gats and Cala Blanca, Calvià. 8:00 to 20:00.
  • The rules thereDogs must be microchipped and vaccinated; pick up after them; dogs classed as potentially dangerous must stay on a lead and muzzled; dogs may not leave the zone for nearby beaches.
  • ElsewhereOther spots are often named online, such as Es Carnatge near Palma, but check the signs on site; they take precedence over any list.

Walking with a dog

On the lanes
and trails.

Heat

Asphalt and rock get very hot in summer. Walk early or late, carry water for both of you, and choose shaded routes.

Sheep and goats

The valley is farmland. Keep dogs on a lead near livestock and through farm gates, and close every gate behind you.

Hunting season

From autumn into winter there may be hunters in the hills. Use a bright collar or vest and stay on marked paths.

Routes: walks from the village · Sa Mola loop. Check each route's own rules for dogs before you go.
