Festes · the village year

Fiestas in
Puigpunyent and Galilea.

Blessings of the animals for Sant Antoni in January, the village's big summer fiestas in August, Galilea's own fiestas in September and a market every Sunday. Here is the year in the valley, and how to join in.

The year in the valley

Four dates
to keep free.

January

Sant Antoni

Mallorca's favourite winter fiesta, for the patron saint of animals, around 17 January. Across the island it means bonfires, music and dancing devils (dimonis). In Puigpunyent the tradition to see is the beneïdes, when the parish priest blesses the animals in front of the church.

August

Festes d'Agost

The village's main fiestas, around the feast of the Assumption on 15 August, to whom the parish church is dedicated. In 2026 they opened on 7 August with the pregó, the opening speech, in the town hall square, followed by days of music, sport and dinners in the street.

September

Festes de Galilea

Galilea celebrates the Mare de Déu de Setembre in early September: church bells and banners, drummers and pipers, an opening speech, live music on the square and an artisan market. Small and friendly, with a view few fiestas can match.

Every week

Sunday market

Every Sunday morning from 9:00 in the village centre: regional and seasonal produce and a coffee on the square. Market

Mark the calendar

A summer morning
to remember.

On the morning of 2 August 2027 a solar eclipse crosses Spain. Totality falls across the south of the mainland, and from Mallorca the Moon covers about nine tenths of the Sun, just days before the August fiestas begin. Eclipse 2027

Watch the programme

Exact dates and times change every year. The town hall publishes the programme a few weeks before; we add the highlights to What's on.

Buy the T-shirt

Each year's fiestas have their own T-shirt, ordered and collected before the fiestas start. Wearing it is the easiest way to say you are part of the village.

Park and walk

Streets close for dinners and concerts. Park outside the centre and walk in, or come on the 201 bus.

stay up late.
